Tuesday Night Musings by Coach Manny.

Hello my Helo peeps. With the Challenge coming to an end soon and all the hard work and dedication over the past weeks that has been put in, I would like to share something with you as far as eating clean and living life that has helped me.

I try my best to live by the “80/20 rule” on a daily basis. The 80/20 rule mean 80% of your diet is good, clean food in appropriate portions. The other 20% is for little splurges to enjoy yourself or for when life hits.

So it sounds pretty simple and it can be. You just have to be very mindful of that 20% because it can be really easy to go way over and not realize it.

What I like to do is plan to eat clean for every meal, or for breakfast, lunch, dinner and all snacks. That way I’m planning for 100%. But let’s face it – this is the real world and things come up. Like a surprise visit from an old friend or family member. Maybe my boss decides to buy me lunch because I’ve been busting my butt or maybe it’s a birthday or an anniversary. Whatever the occasion is, if I’ve been good on all of my food leading up to these moments then I’m going to enjoy myself and not worry or stress about what I’m eating.

Now, the trick is the things that you eat after that said occasion. It can be hard to bounce right back into clean eating after having a taste of some good treats. That said, I try my hardest to not have too many cheat meals In a row or not let myself have a cheat every day. The best thing for me is to jump right back into the good food because I don’t always know what will come up.

This is the base for what I do and it’s what work for me to hold myself accountable while still enjoying life.

If you have any questions on the 80/20 rule or on the way I live it – feel free to hit me up.

Thanks for reading!
