Tuesday Night Musings with Coach Kyle.

Success in 2020!
Hi All!
So, for tonight’s musing I wanted to expand a little bit more on Coach Ben’s musing last week about New Year resolutions. I wanted to further address enjoying the process or sticking with it and giving you folks, my thoughts on how to go about those resolutions so that you can be successful with this New Year’s resolution specifically.
The first step to success is setting a resolution that you can control and isn’t too lofty of a goal. Starting small is better. By starting small and with something that you have full control over, you will be more likely to succeed at it. An example of such a goal may be: 1. going to the gym, 3 times a week, for a month.  That is something that you can control, something that is obtainable, and something you can enjoy.
Then, once that goal is obtained you can move on to something a little bigger like: 2. eating 1 meal a day, for a month, that is clean and healthy. Little things like this will help you set a foundation of achieving a much bigger overall good health goal.
Also, when it comes to goal setting and setting small goals, I’m not saying that setting the big goals (like losing 50 lbs) is not something you shouldn’t do. What I am saying is that you need to set the smaller goals to take the baby steps needed to achieve the big goals and that is what helps you to stay consistent and driven to accomplish the overall goal.
Start with the little successes and focus on those first, instead of focusing on a goal like losing 50 lbs and getting discouraged. You can’t control how many lbs you lose. Sometimes you can eat healthy And work out everyday and still not lose the weight. It happens. But if you say I’m going to work out 3 times a week and eat 1 clean meal every day for a month, those are much easier goals that will eventually lead to you losing 50 lbs. And, in the interim, you will still see improvement and take steps closer to being healthier and enjoy the process instead of stressing about the outcome.
Goal setting should be about making your life easier and better – Not adding stress to your life. So when you set goals, focus on the things you are doing instead of the things that are not happening, and you will find success and self-satisfaction in the little victories along the way.
Thanks for reading my musing!
Sincerely,
