Tuesday Night Musings with Coach Kyle.
Kyle’s Review of CrossFit Shoes.
Hi Everyone!
So, I’m going to chat about 3 brands that are known to be worn by CrossFitters and that I myself have tried. I’m going from my least, to most, favorite and hope it is helpful.
1. Nike.
Honestly, Nike Metcons are my least favorite out of the mainstream CrossFit shoes. Some people like them because they are sturdy and I feel like when it comes to the typical CrossFit wods that take place inside the box – they are not a bad shoe. The main reason I am not a huge fan is because they feel bulky and clunky to me which, in my opinion, is not a good feel for when I’m running or doing any kind of working out outside of the box.
2. Reebok.
I’m a fan of Reebok Nanos. They are lightweight, with stretchier material, and are snug fitting which is what I like for running and outside of the box workouts. They are pretty sturdy and flat which is good for lifting and inside of the box wods. Some of the Nanos also have higher rubber soles on the inner part of the shoe which is good for climbing ropes. And when it comes to comfort I think they are pretty good for a workout shoe. You can also find good sales or deals on Nanos from time to time.
3. NOBULL.
This is my favorite shoe and what I wear all of the time. I find them to feel lightweight and very sleek in appearance. I actually feel very comfortable running in them even though they have a firm sole (And for those of you who have heard me run know that I’m a very loud and clunky runner and when I run in these it doesn’t seem as bad). Further, they are flat and solidly made – which is awesome for lifting. And when it comes to comfort I find them more comfortable than Nanos. It should be noted that they are a bit pricier but I think their quality makes it worth it.
To conclude, really the only way to know what you like is to try out a few different pairs and see which shoe fits your foot best. And while there are plenty of other options besides the three I talked about, these are the three that I have tried and liked the best.
Thanks for reading!
Sincerely,
Coach Kyle
