Tuesday Night Musings with Coach Manny.

Don’t waste a moment.

Hello Helo Fam!

Tonight, I wanted to talk about living your life and not wasting it on negativity.

As you may have heard, Kobe Bryant was killed in a tragic helicopter accident along with his daughter and several other passengers aboard.  Now, I’ve seen what some people think and their question as to why is everyone talking about cherishing the moments and living your life etc. now that it’s a celebrity?

I’m sure a lot of us live in the moment and cherish every minute of it but when something tragic happens and it’s well known – it hits that much harder and makes us all remember what truly matters.

Now, growing up I wasn’t a Kobe fan. It wasn’t until later in his career, that I started to see more interviews with Kobe and additional things came up that made me appreciate everything he has done. All the hard work and dedication he put in to get him there. I also started to see and hear about other things that he would do for his family. He put that same hard work and dedication into his family as he did his career.

I recall one interview where he was asked – How do you want to be remembered? And his answer was: “As someone who never wasted a moment who never wasted a day.” That really stuck with me.

I try and make the best of every moment I have. In a day. Now I’m not the best at that. I get down on myself when I can’t do certain things I wanted to with our kids but at the end of the day, I am there and present with them. It can be as simple as chatting with them during the car ride home or them telling me stories about their day when I get home. Randi and I share some late night chats and we catch up on the day with each other. I’m so tired somedays, but I try my best and make my days memorable.

And at the end of the day, I think that is what is important. Keep those close to you and take in all the moments big or small and cherish them deeply. Because tomorrow is never promised. I will leave you with a Kobe quote.

“Life is to short to hold grudges it doesn’t make sense to do it. “ – Kobe Bryant.

Thanks for reading.

Sincerely,

Coach Manny.
