CrossFit Helo is tied for 1st in Utah on the Open Affiliate Leaderboard after 4 wods!
Hi Everyone!
As many of you know, I happen to love the Open every year because: I am inspired watching others compete, I enjoy seeing others succeed, I thrive on game days, I have fun creating the custom leaderboards, and most importantly, I just thoroughly enjoy the camaraderie and bonding that occurs amongst us all when we pour our hearts (or often souls) out there on the floor and we all do it together, for the sheer love of the game so to speak.
As a result, when Coach Ben mentioned that there was an Affiliate Leaderboard, I was intrigued. And more so, I was delighted that when I did a search comparing the top 10 athletes – male and female – against all other boxes in Utah for finishes in 20.1 to 20.4 – we came out tied for 1st with CrossFit Iron Muscle. We were above some other boxes that I respect a lot, like CrossFit Salt Lake City and Wasatch CrossFit, etc.  In fact, we are in front of all the other boxes in the state obviously, and then worldwide of all affiliates – we are presently ranked 608!! Both statistics are awesome when you think of how many affiliates and people are competing!
I wanted to write about this because I think it speaks tremendously to the depth of great athletes we have at Helo.  The depth and breadth of the extremely hard working athletes at Helo speaks volumes and it is also a huge compliment to each of the athletes competing in the Open for Helo, where even with us enforcing the standards really strictly each week and our judges being tough, our athletes’ hard work is paying off in leaps and bounds! It is extremely rewarding to see the growth in each of you and this is just a further tangible or definite marker of how well you are doing collectively!
Truthfully, this Open has been one of the most fun Opens for me in a couple of years and this is kind of just icing on the cake! Seeing how well we are doing as a box, and looking past just one or two athletes but to our box as a whole, just fills Alecio and I with pride because even with the move and the changes – our athletes, male and female, have come prepared and are kicking booty, laying it down on the line (or rubber mats in this case), and it’s paying off!
CrossFit Helo is a top of the line box and we are grateful to you showing that with your Open performances.  I can’t wait to see how we all do in this last and final wod come Friday!! (I personally am hoping for more dubs – or how about some triple-unders!!)
In all honesty, I’m just so proud of our box and each and every one of you that make Helo so amazing, where I wanted to end by saying a heartfelt thank you for all you do and keep bringing it – we have one more to go!
Thanks for reading!
Sincerely,
Coach Julia

Attention:  We wanted to let everyone know that one of our members, Dallas, could use some of our most positive and healing thoughts right now.  Dallas was admitted to the hospital last Friday and now has to go in for surgery this Friday at Timpanogos Hospital in Provo for a right carotid endarterectomy.  He won’t be able to come to the box for a bit and so we just wanted everyone to know, so they can send him some love and support – we love you Dallas x0x0x0.
