Third Critical Announcement Regarding, SugarWod, loaning of Equipment and Closure of Helo effective 3/17/20.

Dear Members:

We are writing with a third announcement regarding the current status at Helo in light of the coronavirus.  It is with heavy hearts that we are writing to let you all know that we are closing Helo for a 2 week minimum period, and the last full day of classes offered will be Tuesday, March 17, 2020.  With that in mind, please review the following plan we are putting in place.

First, and as we announced on Sunday night, we are encouraging all of our members to download SugarWOD asap, because there are several tracks for online wods to be done at home – including at home body weight wods, minimal equipment wods, and endurance options, with a complete warm up and cool down in it.  At this moment there is the CrossFit Wod and body weight options available and we will be working to get the rest up and running.   It is an awesome tool that we will be using for the long term and we want you to get on there and play with it, as we welcome your feedback.  We apologize for the rough corners right now as we hadn’t planned on launching it so quickly but we are very excited for the opportunity to get it going! We hope you will get your families and neighbors involved!

Second, we are going to be loaning out equipment to ease the burden. Both Wednesday and Thursday (March 18 and 19th) will be designated equipment pick up days (including time for you to pick up personal jump ropes and bars, etc.) with specific times throughout the day to stagger the process.  Please note we will be fair, however, we are designating who gets what, and will only be handing out certain items, like dumbbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, boxes, bumper plates, etc. We may loan out certain other pieces, however, for example, regarding rowers, since we don’t have enough, we will be making judgment calls and would be more inclined to give one to someone that simply cannot run, or is recovering from a surgery, etc, but we are not loaning out bikes at this time.  We are reviewing some of the requests received but just wanted to clarify that.

Third, if you want equipment we will be creating a list that will be finalized tomorrow night so we can assign equipment evenly. Therefore, please text, e-mail, face book message, or contact either Alecio or I, and if you don’t have either of our numbers, we will put a sign up on the board as well. We will be designating what members receive (length of membership may be given priority) and you will be asked to sign a piece of paper acknowledging the following:  1. You will be continuing your membership at Helo past this closure; 2. You will be liable and responsible for paying for the equipment in the unfortunate event it is broken, lost, etc., at fair market value; 3. If you are unable to continue to attend Helo for some unknown reason, the equipment will be returned promptly to Helo; and 4. On the date of return designated by Helo, or upon re-opening, you agree to return the loaned equipment within 2 days. If you receive any equipment, please treat it with the care we use.

Fourth, and finally, come Wednesday, April 1st, we will reassess where we are at, and will permit all equipment to remain loaned out until April 15th if necessary.  At that time, by April 15th, we will address membership rates, discounts if needed, or cancellations, without any repercussions.  As mentioned previously, if anyone cancels now, while we certainly understand, if you returned to Helo upon its reopening, we would restart your membership but at the current rates.  Further, we will not be suspending memberships at this time as we are paying our coaches through this two week period and want to ensure we are covering the month of March’s current responsibilities.

We realize this closure is extremely inconvenient but we feel that we have to close Helo by end of day tomorrow, or effective March 17, 2020, with the recent national guidance of no gathering of more than 10 people at one time.

To conclude, we apologize because we do not want to do this but feel it is the best decision as business owners of a fitness facility.  That said, we are really excited with the addition of SugarWOD and seeing our community explore it online.

Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions or concerns at this time via e-mail to julia@crossfithelo.com.

Thank you for your consideration and we will look forward to seeing you all again soon.

                                                                                    Best Regards,

                                                                                    Alecio E. Mejia & Julia D. Kyte
