PVC for You and Me.

As most of you know, I recently attended the CrossFit Level 2 coaches course and there were several awesome things I learned as a coach but also as an athlete. One thing in particular struck me as an athlete and I wanted to share it with you all.
We ALL benefit with more skills and drills with pvc yet so much of the time we dismiss it because we already “know” the movement or are already strong. Let me tell you, in a group of several coaches at this course, we were all humbled many, many times by that pvc. Whether you are an elite athlete or a beginner, taking time to drill basics with pvc under the eye of a coach will help you move better, which should be the goal for all of us.
The barbell oftentimes feels easier and we feel like we move better with it because it gives us feedback. It is valuable to drill with a barbell too but there is good reason we start with that pvc first. You can’t hide movement faults as well with pvc so it helps coaches see where there’s room for improvement to get you moving your best.
So, whether you are chasing bigger numbers on lifts or just trying to learn the basics do not be so quick to rush through skill work with pvc. It is beneficial for everyone and shouldn’t be overlooked as we strive to improve.
Thanks for reading.
Sincerely,
Coach Kris
